Tesla has kicked off deliveries of its 2025 Model Y in China on February 26, 2025. The new Model Y introduces a variety of updates that enhance its design, comfort, and functionality. This comes after production was announced for the new Model Y on February 17 at Giga Shanghai.

The exterior has been revamped with a sleeker front fascia featuring a full-width LED light bar and split headlights, taking cues from the Cybertruck and Model 3 Highland. The rear showcases a reflective full-width taillight, a first for Tesla, along with a streamlined tailgate where the Tesla name integrates subtly into the light design.

Aerodynamic efficiency has improved by 4%, thanks to the redesigned body, new bumpers, and optimized wheels, boosting range and performance. A fresh “Glacier Blue” paint color joins the lineup as an exclusive option, complementing standards like Stealth Grey and premium shades like Ultra Red.

New wheel designs, including 19-inch Crossflow and 20-inch Helix 2.0, pair with noise-optimized tires for a quieter ride, while a hands-free tailgate now opens automatically as you approach.

Inside, the cabin sees upgrades for comfort and utility. The front seats are now ventilated in addition to heated. Rear seats, split 60:40, fold flat and return upright with a button press, offering easier cargo management and slightly longer cushions for better adult comfort. Rear passengers gain an 8-inch touchscreen for entertainment—like games, movies, and music—and climate control, with Bluetooth headset support for up to two users.

A configurable LED ambient lighting strip runs through the cabin, adding a premium, customizable vibe, while soft-touch vegan suede inserts and a refined dashboard elevate the material quality. Double-layer acoustic glass cuts road noise significantly, and a 16-speaker audio system, with some speakers discreetly hidden, delivers immersive sound.

On the performance and tech front, the Long Range All-Wheel Drive model now achieves up to 320 miles of EPA-estimated range in the U.S., or 447 miles under China’s CLTC standard, thanks to aerodynamic tweaks and efficiency gains. The suspension has been retuned, paired with updated tires and steering calibration, for a smoother, more responsive ride that balances comfort and handling.

A new 180-degree front bumper camera joins the nine-camera array, enhancing visibility for Autopilot and Full Self-Driving systems. The 15.4-inch center display runs on faster hardware, though its size remains unchanged.

Unlike the Model 3 Highland’s button-based turn signals, the Model Y retains a traditional indicator stalk, which is way easier. The front trunk, or frunk, now includes a drain plug, making it practical as a cooler or wash station.

Additional details include “Launch” series exclusives for early buyers in some markets, such as special badging on the liftgate, doorsill, and puddle lights, an Acceleration Boost for the Long Range AWD, and a unique black vegan suede interior finish.

The new Model Y will likely help the compact crossover SUV retain its title as the world’s best-selling car.
