The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) is set to become the first police force in the U.S. to deploy a fleet of Tesla Cybertrucks, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
During the State of the Department address on Tuesday, Sheriff Kevin McMahill announced that 10 Cybertrucks have been donated to the department for patrol and SWAT use. The purchase was funded by an anonymous donor, meaning no taxpayer money was used.
McMahill highlighted the safety benefits of the Cybertrucks, noting that they are bulletproof. “The cops inside will be safe no matter what,” he said. He also believes the Cybertrucks will be a valuable recruitment tool, attracting interest from both officers and the community.
With this rollout, LVMPD will have the largest fleet of Tesla police trucks in the country. Check out the full address below:
