Tesla’s Cybercab, originally unveiled as a fully autonomous robotaxi, has been spotted testing with a steering wheel at Giga Texas—a surprising twist given that the vehicle was designed to operate without one.
Drone pilot Joe Tegtmeyer shared on X that Cybercab testing is ramping up, with multiple vehicles driving around the factory.
“Cybercab testing at Giga Texas in larger numbers today! Hard to count the exact number since they were constantly moving, but I saw at least five, maybe more,” Tegtmeyer posted.
One detail stands out: a Cybercab with a steering wheel. This suggests Tesla may be exploring alternative driving options—possibly for regulatory reasons or as a backup for certain conditions.
