
Tesla has started production of the revamped Model Y at Gigafactory Shanghai, aligning with the global rollout strategy as production also kicks off at Gigafactory Berlin.
This move follows the completion of regulatory processes in China, enhancing Tesla’s ability to increase Model Y deliveries worldwide, including in Australia.
“Production of the new Model Y has officially started at Gigafactory Shanghai. Deliveries coming soon,” said the Tesla Asia account on X on Sunday evening.
Deliveries on the Tesla China website now show deliveries in late February, when previously this said March.

According to new Model Y registration info in China, there will be three variants of the vehicle. Tesla previously confirmed a Performance version was coming soon.
A few pictures were shared, including a close-up image of the new Glacier Blue paint color, which looks gorgeous.
