Camoflauged Model Y Spotted at Giga Texas—Performance Model?
Tesla’s Giga Texas in Austin is gearing up for a major Model Y rollout as a large batch of new Model Y Launch Edition vehicles fills the outbound lot.
According to drone pilot Joe Tegtmeyer, reservation holders have been told to prepare for delivery soon, signaling that the long-awaited refresh is finally arriving. Those that pre-ordered like Brandon, recently shared new Model Y delivery dates as February 22 to March 22.

In an unexpected twist, a heavily camouflaged Model Y was also spotted at Giga Texas—the first of its kind seen at the factory. Even the interior was covered, raising speculation about Tesla’s next move.
“This is a new development and the first time I’ve seen anything like this at Giga Texas,” Tegtmeyer reported.
Industry insiders believe the covered-up Model Y could be either the upcoming 7-seater version or a Performance variant, both of which were recently confirmed by Tesla executives on Jay Leno’s Garage. The Performance model is expected to bring significant upgrades in power and handling, while the 7-seater would expand Tesla’s lineup for families looking for extra space.
With the new Model Y being official and deliveries about to begin, Tesla seems to be working on even more enhancements for its best-selling SUV. The sighting of the camouflaged prototype suggests the company is finalizing development on new configurations, possibly set for release later this year.
