Tesla’s latest software update, version 2024.45.32, introduces a new feature called “Trailer Profiles,” allowing drivers to manage and record trailer details more efficiently. The feature was first shared by a Tesla code hunter, @greentheonly, on X.
Key Features of Trailer Profiles:
- Drivers can save up to 20 trailer configurations, including details like trailer mileage and type (open or enclosed).
- This information helps the car better estimate energy consumption while towing.
- However, users must manually input and switch between profiles. Despite Tesla’s advanced “Vision” systems, automatic detection of trailer types isn’t available yet.
Other Updates:
- Navigation settings now include route preferences, such as “prioritize highway” and “prioritize time.”
- The update also adds three new Tencent game icons for Tesla users in China, expanding entertainment options.
This update builds on Tesla’s earlier towing improvements. Back in November, Tesla made it easier to locate trailer-friendly Supercharger stations directly on its in-car maps, improving convenience for drivers hauling trailers.
While the new Trailer Profiles feature isn’t fully automated, it offers a step forward in making Tesla vehicles more towing-friendly. Users can expect continued improvements as Tesla refines its software. Now all we need to wait for is “Bike Hitch” mode…
