First BC Hydro EV Charger with Tesla Connectors Opens
Traveling through the Okanagan in British Columbia, Canada, just got easier for electric vehicle (EV) drivers.
BC Hydro has opened its largest charging station yet in Lake Country, located along Pelmewash Highway. The site features 22 charging ports, offering drivers a faster and more convenient way to power up during their trips.
This new hub is BC Hydro’s first to include ultra-fast 350 kW chargers, capable of charging most EVs from 20% to 80% in under 10 minutes. While not all EVs can use the full 350 kW speed, every vehicle can safely connect and charge at its maximum capacity.
The Lake Country location is also the first BC Hydro station to feature Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) connectors. These connectors aim to make charging simpler and more accessible for Tesla and non-Tesla drivers alike. The site also includes Level 2 chargers and 180 kW fast chargers for those who prefer other options.
For EV travelers looking to explore B.C., BC Hydro offers an updated charging map on its EV app, making it easier to locate and save favorite stations.
