New BC Hydro EV Network Mobile App is Coming

BC Hydro is set to enhance its public electric vehicle (EV) charging network with the launch of a new version of its mobile app, promising improved functionality and user experience for EV owners, according to an email received by Tesla North. This development is part of BC Hydro’s ongoing efforts to expand and upgrade its EV charging infrastructure.

The upgraded app for B.C., Canada, residents, will introduce several new features aimed at providing a seamless charging experience for EV owners. Key enhancements include support for higher-powered EV chargers, allowing for faster and more efficient charging sessions. Users will also benefit from timely notifications about new EV chargers installed near their location, ensuring they have the latest information on charging options.

An important update in the app is the introduction of an account balance auto-reload feature, designed to streamline the payment process for users. Additionally, the app will support kWh-based billing, pending approval from the B.C. Utilities Commission. This billing method is expected to provide a more transparent and fair charging cost structure for users.

BC Hydro has also hinted at more advanced features to be rolled out in 2024, indicating a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in their EV charging services.
