SpaceX Reveals New Mars-Themed Mural at Starbase Parking Garage

A new mural featuring Starships on Mars has been unveiled at SpaceX’s Starbase facility in Boca Chica, Texas, as shared by @StarshipGazer on X.

The artwork, located on the parking garage at Starbase, depicts multiple Starships stationed on Mars at what appears to be “Mars Base Alpha,” giving a visual glimpse into SpaceX’s vision of the future.

“Starships on Mars at Mars Base Alpha have been revealed on the new Starbase parking garage mural,” noted @StarshipGazer, who shared images of the artwork.

The mural adds a creative touch to the facility and symbolizes SpaceX’s ongoing ambition to reach and colonize Mars.

SpaceX’s fifth flight test of its Starship rocket could take off as soon as October 13, pending regulatory approval, said the company earlier this week.

If approved, the launch window opens at 7:00 a.m. CT, and the event will be live-streamed 30 minutes before liftoff on SpaceX’s website, X, and the new X TV app. The schedule remains dynamic and subject to change, so updates will be shared via SpaceX’s X account.

Following the success of the fourth test flight—where Starship achieved its first-ever booster soft-landing in the Gulf of Mexico and a controlled reentry splashdown in the Indian Ocean—this next test aims to achieve a return to the launch site and catch the Super Heavy booster. Yes, those chopsticks are about to get lit, folks.

Extensive upgrades have been made to both the rocket and the launch infrastructure at Starbase, with technicians dedicating tens of thousands of hours to prepare for this milestone, says SpaceX.

The flight will also test a revamped heatshield on Starship, which has been redesigned with newer-generation tiles and additional protective layers.

If conditions are not ideal for a return, the booster will default to a splashdown in the Gulf of Mexico, while Starship will follow a similar trajectory as its previous test, targeting a controlled splashdown in the Indian Ocean.

Each test builds on the last as SpaceX continues to refine Starship’s reusability and work towards revolutionizing space access.
