SpaceX to Build Starbase Office and Factory at $100 Million
SpaceX is set to embark on a massive construction project, developing a $100 million office and industrial factory at its Boca Chica Beach launch facility, capable of accommodating the equivalent of 15 football fields.
The expansive project, known as the “SpaceX Starbase Office,” will be situated at 52190 San Martin Blvd. in Brownsville, Texas, as per the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation records, reports Valley Central.
The ambitious development plan outlines a five-level office mezzanine as part of an approximately 1-million-square-foot special use industrial factory. With an estimated cost of $100 million, the project is scheduled to start on February 23, 2024, with a targeted completion date of January 1, 2025. That’s just 11 months from start to finish.
This announcement follows recent news from Valley Central last month about SpaceX’s plans to open a $15 million shopping center in Brownsville.
This upcoming commercial venture is expected to feature a grocery store, retail shops, and a restaurant equipped with an outdoor deck offering views of the Rio Grande, further contributing to the region’s development and SpaceX’s growing footprint in the area.
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, in a reply to Sawyer Merritt, said the project is “already well underway”.
Earlier today, SpaceX said it was preparing for rehearsals ahead of the third launch of Starship.
