Irvine PD Adds Tesla Cybertruck to Fleet, Debuts with Terminator Theme
The Irvine Police Department (IPD) has unveiled what it believes to be the first Tesla Cybertruck in the nation to be used by a police department.
The vehicle will support the department’s Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) program and community outreach efforts. Although the fully equipped Cybertruck won’t serve as a regular patrol car, it will be available to respond to emergencies and assist the community as needed.
For over 30 years, IPD’s DARE officers have utilized unique and eye-catching vehicles to engage with students and the community, making an impression that supports their educational programs. IPD is one of only two agencies in California to continue operating a DARE program.

In a video shared by the department, the Cybertruck is introduced with the background music of Terminator 2: Judgment Day Theme by Brad Fiedel, adding a futuristic and bold feel to the unveiling. The new vehicle will help officers connect with the youth of Irvine and promote positive community interaction. Come on, the Cybertruck is definitely the future, today.
The public will have the opportunity to see the Cybertruck up close at upcoming community events hosted by IPD, where residents can take photos and meet with officers to learn more about the department’s initiatives.
The Cybertruck received its police modifications from UP.FIT, a subsidiary of Unplugged Performance.
