Kia EVs Get Tesla Supercharger Access in January 2025
Kia America announced today it will soon offer Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapters for its EV6 and EV9 models, significantly expanding charging access for customers.
Starting in January 2025, Kia EV6 and EV9 owners will have access to over 16,500 NACS DC fast chargers across the U.S.
Customers who purchase a 2024 or 2025 Kia EV9 or 2024 Kia EV6 after September 4, 2024, will receive the NACS adapter free of charge, with deliveries expected in early 2025. Owners of EV6, EV9, and Niro EV models delivered before September 4, 2024, will be able to purchase the adapter from authorized dealers at a later date.
“Kia is committed to providing the best ownership experience for our EV customers, and offering NACS adapters significantly expands charging options across North America,” said Eric Watson, VP of Sales Operations at Kia America, in a statement on Tuesday. With the addition of these adapters, Kia will increase accessible DC fast charging points by over 83%.
Three adapter types will be available: NACS to CCS1, CCS1 to NACS, and J1772 to NACS, offering various charging options for Kia vehicles.
In early 2025, Kia owners will also be able to pay for charging through the Kia Access app, following a vehicle software update. This app will enable users to find and navigate to charging stations, check availability, and view pricing.
