In a bid to redefine sustainable mobility within the compact SUV sector, Kia introduced its all-electric compact SUV, the Kia EV5, at the Chengdu Motor Show in China. Targeted predominantly at millennial families, this vehicle combines the best of Kia’s design, technology, and sustainability.

Kia’s distinctive ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy is the primary muse behind the EV5. By celebrating the symbiosis of nature and modernity, the EV5 showcases strong, definitive lines, fusing the traditional Kia tiger mask with a modern twist.

Karim Habib, Executive Vice President and Head of Kia Global Design Center, shared, “The EV5 epitomizes Kia’s unique ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy. It sets a new bar for design, performance, and user experience, offering unparalleled enjoyment to drivers.”

With the ‘Bold for Nature’ pillar of the ‘Opposites United’ philosophy as its cornerstone, the EV5’s exterior boasts of a formidable body juxtaposed against a gentle surface. Its overall demeanor resonates with power and grace, marked by features like the sleek digital ‘Tiger Face’, the three-dimensional ‘Signature Star Map Lighting’, and an aerodynamically efficient rear spoiler. Furthermore, Kia offers the EV5 in a range of ten exquisite colors.

The interior cabin’s mood lighting, offering adjustable brightness and an array of colors, adds to the ambient luxury.

In terms of practical features, the EV5 houses an advanced center fascia that integrates the latest connected car Navigation & Cockpit (ccNC) and heater controls, ensuring utmost ease of use for occupants. Moreover, customers can customize the interiors from a choice of four key colors and five seat patterns.

Come late 2023, Kia plans to debut the EV5 in China and will disclose further product specifics at the upcoming Kia EV Day in October, a platform where the brand will further expound on its electrification vision.
