Suppliers have been asked to prepare accordingly for a double-digit increase of Model Y output at its Shanghai factory, said one source.
As for the Model Y “Juniper” refresh, sources say it will launch in early 2025 and not 2024 as previously planned. Tesla CEO Elon Musk previously reiterated there will not be a Model Y refresh this year. He has also emphasized Reuters stories as being inaccurate as well.
Model Y competitors in China include the Onvo L60 from Nio and 7X from Zeekr, which have more interior space. The Model Y with 7 seats and its third row is being criticized for being cramped inside, claims sources speaking to Reuters.
