Tesla Confirms Delay of Robotaxi Unveil Event, According to Elon Musk
Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced on Friday, April 5, that the company would unveil its Robotaxi on August 8, 2024. “Tesla Robotaxi unveil on 8/8,” Musk stated.
Following the announcement, Musk responded to a comment by @SawyerMerritt, noting, “8/8 and year of the Dragon,” highlighting the significance of the number 8 in Asian cultures.
On July 15, 2024, Musk confirmed the delay of the event, originally reported by Bloomberg’s anonymous sources last week. The sources indicated that the event would be postponed by two months to give teams additional time to build extra prototypes.
Musk explained the decision, saying, “Requested what I think is an important design change to the front, and extra time allows us to show off a few other things.” Musk did not provide a new date for the Robotaxi unveil event, so we’ll have to wait and see when the new date will be.
Tesla’s Robotaxi, is an autonomous vehicle designed to function without a human driver. This innovation reflects Tesla’s vision of a future where self-driving cars can be used to generate income for owners through a ride-hailing service. The Robotaxi represents a major step forward in the development of Tesla’s autonomous driving technology. Existing Tesla vehicles may also be turned into a Robotaxi as well.
