Tesla has announced a major investment in new Superchargers for 2024, according to CEO Elon Musk.
On early Friday morning, Musk said on X, “Just to reiterate: Tesla will spend well over $500M expanding our Supercharger network to create thousands of NEW chargers this year.”
“That’s just on new sites and expansions, not counting operations costs, which are much higher,” he added.
The news comes after Tesla recently gutted its entire Supercharging team. Tesla Superchargers have been the biggest benefit to owning a Tesla as it makes charging on road trips incredibly easy.
The Supercharger network has since opened select locations to non-Tesla EVs, while the company’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) will soon bring even more EVs to its chargers.
Tesla needs to further increase this message on the increase in Supercharger spending. The announcement is a positive sign for those that thought the sky was falling. ‘Wartime’ Elon is still moving full steam ahead.
