Tesla Model Y Undercuts Toyota Prius on Price in Germany
Tesla’s Model Y is now priced lower than the Toyota Prius in Germany, excluding potential savings on fuel or maintenance.
Tesla Europe & Middle East highlighted this development on X with a succinct message, “Just leaving this here” drawing attention to a comparison of the two vehicles’ pricing.
A post from @WholeMarsBlog was quoted to emphasize the price difference: “The Tesla Model Y is now cheaper than the Toyota Prius in Germany — before factoring in fuel or maintenance savings.”
The Tesla Model Y, with its zero emissions and high efficiency, is listed at 44,990 euros. It boasts a range of 455 kilometers per charge and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. Its energy consumption is stated at 15.7 kWh/100km. It’s also a better looking car with the latest technology.
In contrast, the new Prius Plug-in Hybrid starts at a 1000 euros higher price point of 45,990 euros. The Prius has been a long-standing choice for consumers seeking fuel-efficient transportation.
This pricing shift is indicative of the changing dynamics in the automotive industry, where electric vehicles are becoming increasingly competitive on cost with traditional internal combustion engine vehicles.
Last year, Tesla’s Model Y was the best-selling car on the planet, out of all fuel types.
