Tesla’s Auto Wipers to Improve Soon with Software Update
If you live in a climate where you see lots of rain, you know very well that Tesla’s “auto” setting for its wipers when using Autopilot or Full Self-Driving needs major improvement. It’s to the point where turning off the “auto” setting is the safe choice in a down pour.
Tesla owner @some_teslagirl shared how the auto wiper setting needs to be fixed still. She tweeted to Tesla CEO Elon Musk about the issue and ended hearing back from a Tesla engineer.
“Sigh. @elonmusk auto wiping still waiting for a fix,” she said on Saturday. That’s when a Tesla senior staff engineer, Yun-Ta Tsai replied to say, “The new improvement should go out soon.”
The new improvement should go out soon.

Musk has long said that wiper improvements would be coming, since 2021. Last year, he said in June, “Actually smart auto wiper software releases in about 3 weeks.” That never happened.
The Tesla CEO also added at the time, “our patented, “Actually Smart Summon (ASS)” is probably a month or two after that.” We haven’t seen that either. Of course, we all know about “Elon time” but at some point we need some changes, especially for wipers during rain storms or even just regular drizzle. Your best bet is to coat your windshield with a product like RainX to help keep your windshield clear during storms.
How do you find Tesla’s “auto” setting for wipers?
