Tesla to Build World’s Largest Supercharger in California, 160+ Stalls

Tesla is set to build the world’s largest Supercharger station in Kern County, California, according to a recent announcement on X by MarcoRP, known unofficially as the Supercharger whisperer for his findings.

The upcoming facility, positioned off I-5 near Lost Hills, is part of a new microgrid project and is expected to feature 164 charging stalls. The development plan includes 16 pull-through chargers, ensuring accessibility for all types of electric vehicles. Additionally, the station will be equipped with solar canopies over each parking stall, highlighting Tesla’s commitment to sustainability (and also providing much-needed shade in the summer heat).

“Based on what is visible on the plans, Tesla could be planning some kind of solar farm to the north of the chargers, as suggested by the maintenance gates and the –150′– at the top of the photo. As this is currently the only plan view available, it has yet to be confirmed,” noted Marco.

The Kern County Street Address Application, dated February 6, 2024, identifies Tesla as the applicant for the project. This expansion underscores Tesla’s ongoing efforts to enhance its charging infrastructure, catering to the growing demand for electric vehicles in the region and beyond.

The current Supercharger location that’s the biggest in the world is at Harris Ranch in California, with 98 stalls available.
