Tesla Cybertruck Review: Off-Roading, Towing and More [VIDEO]

cybertruck off road review

We finally get to see a review of Tesla’s Cybertruck when it comes to towing and off-roading, thanks to Ryan Shaw on YouTube, who took the new truck to sand dunes and also showed us some charging performance at Superchargers along the way.

The Cybertruck demonstrated its towing prowess by hauling a 3,000 lb electric UTV. “It doesn’t feel like I’m towing much. I just have to know that there is a big car being towed behind me,” Shaw stated. The Cybertruck’s ease of towing was attributed to its powerful electric drivetrain, capable of handling up to 11,000 lbs.

Shaw tested the Cybertruck in various off-road conditions, including sand dunes and rocky terrain. The vehicle’s adjustable ride heights and off-road modes, such as all-purpose, sand, gravel, and rock, were particularly noted. “Off-roading in a nearly silent vehicle that also dampens road noise and bumps well is impressive,” Shaw remarked. The Cybertruck’s performance was compared favorably to other off-roading vehicles, with its tri-motor setup delivering 845 horsepower and 10,296 lb-ft of torque. There was some really nice footage here from Shaw.

The Cybertruck’s charging capabilities were tested under real-world conditions. Arriving at a Tesla Supercharger with just 2% charge, the vehicle took less than 45 minutes to reach 80% charge. Shaw noted, “This should be the experience most people have most of the time.” The Cybertruck’s use of Tesla’s new 4680 battery cells was highlighted, suggesting potential for future improvements in charging speed and efficiency.

Shaw concluded that the Cybertruck is a remarkable vehicle, offering a blend of power, versatility, and technological innovation. “I have never driven a car like this in my entire life,” he said, praising its handling, steering, and ride quality. Despite encountering a minor issue with the main screen, which was promptly resolved by Tesla Service, Shaw’s experience with the Cybertruck was overwhelmingly positive.
