Tesla has launched the Model Y RWD variant in Taiwan, as of November 1, 2023.
This vehicle is priced from NT $1,799,900 ($55,619 USD), joining the Long Range and Performance options (via @Tslachan). There is a price difference of 328,000 yuan compared to the Long Range Model Y.
The Model Y RWD is not imported from Giga Shanghai in China, given the diplomatic considerations at stake (China believes Taiwan belongs to them), but instead built at Giga Berlin and imported to the island nation, which is heavily backed by the United States.
This latest Model Y RWD has a range of 438 km (WLTP), top speed of 217 km/h and goes 0 to 100 kmh in 6.9 seconds.
Tesla’s Model Y was the best selling EV in Taiwan in October, generating a whopping 687 sales, with only the Mercedes-EQ EQA in second place at 144 sales and Volvo XC40 Recharge in third with 90 sales. The Model S and Model X generated 7 sales, respectively.
