Subaru to Adopt Tesla’s North American Charging Standard
Subaru of America disclosed today that it has entered into an agreement with Tesla to adopt the North American Charging Standard (NACS) for its future battery electric vehicles (BEVs) in North America. The integration is set to commence in 2025.
The deal will allow Subaru to equip certain BEVs with NACS ports, starting in 2025, thereby granting Subaru customers access to Tesla’s extensive Supercharging network. The network currently boasts more than 15,000 Superchargers across North America, enhancing the convenience of charging for Subaru BEV owners.
Subaru also plans to offer an adapter for NACS charging, compatible with the Combined Charging System (CCS), for customers who own or lease applicable Subaru BEVs.
“Welcome Subaru owners to Superchargers across North America,” said Tesla on X.
This move aligns with Subaru’s broader strategy to transition towards electric vehicles. Under its new management structure, established in June 2023, the company aims for 50% of its total global sales to be BEVs by 2030 as part of its commitment to achieving carbon neutrality.
