Tesla’s Model Y has broken the record for the most sold car in a single year in Denmark, according to a statement from Tesla Europe on Wednesday.
The electric vehicle sold more than 12,944 units in 2023, surpassing the previous record of 12,940 units set by the VW UP! in 2013, according to data spotted by Arpe (@Arpe_DK).
Official year-to-date numbers for the Tesla Model Y stand at 12,641 units, just shy of the all-time record. But data from nrpla.de suggests that Tesla has already sold 13,164 Model Y units in 2023. Looks like Tesla has the numbers right and has topped sales from legacy automaker Volkswagen.
The high sales numbers indicate strong market performance for the Model Y in Denmark. There’s still plenty of room for Tesla to grow in Europe and we’re just beginning to see what will happen on the continent.
