Qatar Airways Becomes Largest Airline to Partner with Starlink
Qatar Airways has announced a partnership with Starlink to provide complimentary high-speed internet connectivity on select aircraft and routes. This makes Qatar Airways the largest airline to offer Starlink’s service, enhancing its 5-star onboard experience.
The service will offer passengers Wi-Fi speeds of up to 350 Megabits per second, suitable for a range of online activities including gaming, video streaming, and VPN access. The connectivity is powered by Starlink’s satellite communications system, the world’s largest satellite internet constellation, operated by SpaceX.
“Qatar Airways is proud to announce its agreement with Starlink to provide seamless and complimentary Wi-Fi to its global passengers,” said His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive. “This exciting collaboration is not only in line with our industry-leading approach to technological adoption, but also serves as an unmissable opportunity to connect Starlink to our global passengers.”
Jonathan Hofeller, SpaceX’s Vice President of Starlink Commercial Sales, added, “With Starlink set to support the entire Qatar Airways fleet, passengers traveling between over 150 destinations around the world will be able to stay connected with the most advanced high-speed internet service from space.”
The service is currently in the pre-launch phase and will be rolled out across Qatar Airways’ fleet. The airline joins other carriers like JSX, Hawaiian Airlines, airBaltic, and ZIPAIR in implementing Starlink’s high-speed, low-latency internet service.
