Tesla Cybertrucks Undergo 1,280-Mile Test in Baja California [VIDEO]
Two Tesla Cybertrucks have successfully undergone a week-long off-road durability test in Baja California, Mexico, one of the world’s most challenging terrains. The test was live-streamed on X via Starlink technology attached to the trucks and has garnered over 1.1 million views in a 7.5-minute video.
The trucks, which were factory-standard except for race seats installed with 5-point harnesses for safety, started their journey in San Diego and traversed the entire Baja peninsula, covering 1,280 miles to nearly reach Cabo.
“Terrain has been unbelievably varied. Desert, sandy wash, rocky ridges, climb through cactus forests; salt flats. Up over mountains and Baja terrain,” said Tesla during the live stream.
The test was made possible by Tesla’s destination charging network, with chargers set up at hotels along the route by the Tesla team. “Folks and reactions and conversations were priceless along the route,” according to Tesla.
As for the performance of the Cybertrucks, Tesla reported only two flat tires as issues. “These trucks are hardcore. Super fun and durable,” said Tesla. The trucks feature air suspension and active dampers, allowing for a comfortable on-road experience and a capable off-road performance. “The ability of these trucks is super impressive. Not just capable but super fun,” Tesla added.
The test aimed to put the Cybertrucks’ firmware and overall design to the extreme. “Successful off-road durability trip so far. Overall super impressed and give a shoutout to the whole Tesla engineering and design and factory teams,” concluded Tesla.
The test ends with a view of the Pacific Ocean at the tip of Cabo, marking the completion of a rigorous journey that has showcased the Cybertruck’s off-road capabilities.
Check out the video below. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has been putting live-streaming on X to the test lately, streaming himself down from the Texas border to show how security is weak, to also showing himself playing Diablo II as well:
