Fast Food Fling: Tesla Dashcam Records Road Rage Sundae Toss

Oak Bay, a municipality located in British Columbia, Canada, witnessed a unique road rage incident on September 18, 2023.

According to the Oak Bay Police Department, the event occurred at approximately 1:00 a.m. on Cedar Hill Cross Rd at University Dr. Two drivers were involved in the incident, during which they exchanged obscene hand gestures. The situation escalated when a 19-year-old male driver threw McDonald’s garbage, including a sundae, at another vehicle.

The entire episode was captured by the internal video recording system of a Tesla involved in the incident. Following an investigation, the Oak Bay Police issued the 19-year-old male a Violation Ticket under Depositing Litter Section 204(2) MVA. The ticket carries a fine of $81 CAD.

“Dashcam records video footage of your vehicle’s surroundings when driving,” explains Tesla’s website.

“Use Dashcam to record driving incidents or other notable events, like you would for an external dashcam on other vehicles. The Dashcam icon is located in the app launcher. You can add the Dashcam app to the bottom bar for easy access,” details Tesla.

Dashcam can be set to manual, automatic or save when you honk your horn to save video from the last 10 minutes. Talk about sweet revenge for this road rage incident.
