Tesla’s new Model 3, awaited with bated breath by enthusiasts, is all set for a grand release, claims another report.
According to trusted insiders who spoke to 36 Krypton, Tesla’s new Model 3 will be delivered at the end of September. To bolster production, the first phase of the battery production line of the Shanghai factory, which had been shut down, is also planned to resume production in September.
A source familiar with the matter shared with the publication, “At present, some production line personnel are returning to work one after another, and some are lost. It is not clear how much will eventually recover.”
Tesla’s recent decision to halt operations at their Shanghai Lingang factory’s Phase 1 battery production was previously spotlighted by 36 Krypton. However, the sales expectations of the new Model 3 and the new orders brought about by price cuts compelled Tesla to rethink and magnify its battery output.
The redesigned Model 3 is expected to turn heads. A description of the Model 3 enhancements are said to include a new front bumper, smoother body design, streaming media rearview mirrors (this could be a translation mistake), multi-spoke aluminum alloy wheels, and more.
However, some might be disappointed with the vehicle’s tech. Some media has claimed that the driving assistance hardware system of the new model is HW 3.5 instead of HW 4.0; so far it’s unclear if this will be true. It would not make sense to not include the latest Hardware 4 when the Model S/X and Model Y have it right now.
The Shanghai Lingang facility, where Tesla’s battery production takes place, has three distinct phases. Detailing its capacity, 36 Krypton noted, “battery factory 1 can produce 3000-4000 battery packs, and factory 2 and factory 2.2 can each produce about 10,000 battery packs.”
A source close to Tesla elaborated on the prior shutdown to the publication, stating that the Phase 1 factory was the earliest to be built and had the lowest degree of automation. They added, “Now the demand is up, so Phase 1 is going to reopen again.”
Tesla’s significant strides in the Chinese market during the first half of 2023 can’t be ignored. Tesla, which has cut prices several times, sold 477,000 vehicles in China, a year-on-year increase of 61.7%.
