How to Fix Tesla Navigation Voice Muffled, Not Clear in 2023.26.8

Last week we told you about how some Tesla customers after installing the latest 2023.26.7 and 2023.26.8 software updates immediately noticed their navigation voice audio started sounding muffled and not clear.

While the bug was seemingly pointed at Tesla’s software, we now have confirmation of the fix for this issue. According to a Tesla North reader AJ that was dealing with this apparent bug, the problem lies with the Hansshow Model 3 SR Premium Audio Upgrade kit. This $85 USD kit would allow these owners to activate premium audio speakers in the Standard Range. Tesla’s premium audio is for the more expensive Long Range and Performance.

But now it seems Tesla has caught on. It seems that Tesla engineers may have purposely messed up audio for those with the Hansshow audio upgrade kit. According to AJ, to fix this issue, he had to reconnect the Tesla audio cable directly to the MCU, bypassing the Hansshow cable to get sounds back to normal. But of course, doing this would disable the sub, extra speakers and DSP that the Hansshow kit unlocked with the latter’s version F kit.

While one other fix that worked was to replace the car’s front body controller, it seems now that any modifications to Tesla audio with a kit like the one from Hansshow will result in a muffled voice and audio from your Model 3 Standard Range speakers.

Let us know if you have a Hansshow audio kit installed and if replugging the original Tesla audio cable fixes this problem for you.
