2023 Tesla Model Y Review Says ‘Damn, It’s Good’

Tesla’s 2023 Model Y Long Range continues to set the benchmark in the electric SUV market, despite the influx of competitors. The latest review from MotorTrend praises the vehicle, stating, “Damn, it’s good.”
The Model Y, which has been on the market for three years, remains a top contender, even as rivals introduce their own electric SUVs, says MotorTrend.
The 2023 Model Y doesn’t deviate much in appearance from its 2020 predecessor. However, Tesla’s continuous updates, both in hardware and software, make it challenging to pinpoint exact changes. The vehicle boasts 384 hp and 375 lb-ft of torque, with an impressive EPA range of 330 miles, up from 316 in 2020.
While the new Model Y’s acceleration to 60 mph is slightly slower than the 2020 model, clocking in at 4.4 seconds, its performance remains commendable. Especially when compared to competitors like the Hyundai Ioniq 5.
The Model Y’s minimalist interior, characterized by a single central screen, is both cost-effective and user-friendly. Features like the Car Wash mode, which prepares the car for automated washing, showcase Tesla’s attention to user experience. However, the vehicle’s Autosteer feature with Autopilot, which centers the car in its lane, was noted to be less precise than systems in other vehicles, claims MotorTrend.
Despite minor criticisms, such as a slightly choppy ride and optimistic range estimates, the Model Y stands out, particularly thanks to Tesla’s Supercharger network. The hassle-free charging experience, where the car and charger handle authentication and payment, sets a gold standard for electric vehicle charging.
MotorTrend’s review concludes with a nod to the Model Y’s consistent performance over the years, stating, “While some competitors are as good as the Tesla, none is clearly better, and the Model Y is still running at the front of the pack.”
And which competitors exactly are as “good”?
QUOTE “While the new Model Y’s acceleration to 60 mph is slightly slower than the 2020 model, clocking in at 4.4 seconds,” The Model Y Long Range 0-60 MPH is 4.8 seconds. ? Unspoken Tesla Speed Boost $2000 upgrade not mentioned. Then it would be about 4.3 seconds rolling start.
Acceleration to 60mph !! – what a S*** thing by which to compare standards.
