Blink Charging reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring compatibility with all electric vehicle models by incorporating both the North America Charging Standard (NACS) and Combined Charging System (CCS) into its extensive line of charging products.

With future US manufacturing facilities in the pipeline, Blink is geared up to create universally accessible EV chargers in line with the Biden Administration’s Buy America program.

“At the EVS36 Symposium, we revealed plans to incorporate NACS connectors into our new 240kW DC Fast Charger. Since this announcement, we have aggressively pursued integrating NACS connectors across all Blink charger products,” declared Brendan Jones, Blink Charging’s CEO and President.

“Our mission is to be at the forefront of the industry’s vigorous shift toward zero-emissions vehicle adoption, ensuring we support all OEMs and cater to the charging needs of GM, Ford, Rivian, and Volvo customers,” added Jones.

Yesterday, Volvo announced it would integrate Tesla’s NACS into its future EVs.

Blink aims to streamline its supply chain by launching the production of NACS DCFC chargers by October 2023.

In addition, the Company plans to incorporate NACS into its Level 2 (L2) chargers, which currently account for nearly 90% of all EV charging use in the United States. This will provide universally accessible technology, simplifying the charging process for drivers and enhancing their overall EV charging experience.

Jones further remarked, “Our engineering team has demonstrated the rapid and successful integration of NACS connectors into our L2 chargers, reducing time-to-market significantly. We anticipate the launch of new NACS and 1772 dual units from our Bowie, MD manufacturing facility in early 2024.”

Blink’s Chief Technology Officer, Harjinder Bhade, emphasized the company’s ability to swiftly adapt its product line to meet the changing demands of OEMs and EV drivers. “Our chargers will cater to all types of drivers, whether it’s a Tesla Model S driver plugging into a NACS charger while shopping, or a Chevy Bolt driver looking for a quick CCS charger boost on a summer road trip. We are working diligently with connector manufacturers and vendors to guarantee the availability of the necessary equipment.”

Blink’s commitment to provide EV charging solutions for various vehicle types, including the largest user group of Tesla drivers, underscores the company’s preparedness for the projected surge in EV adoption. With estimates suggesting up to 50% of all new car sales could be electric by 2030, the demand for over 30 million EV chargers is expected to arise, requiring the presence of multiple charging companies in the market.
