Tesla Model Y Cruiser Debuts for Richmond RCMP
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) continues to test their Tesla Model Y police cruiser, this time in the City of Richmond in British Columbia’s Lower Mainland.
“Hey @elonmusk have you heard? Mounties in Canada are chasing criminals in fully marked, operational police EVs, including this one,” said the Richmond RCMP on Thursday.

This Tesla Model Y is outfitted with RCMP logos, lights, sirens and a push bar on the front bumper. It’s on loan from the West Shore RCMP, a vehicle that debuted on Vancouver Island in February.
“Whether the next phase will involve a Tesla or another brand of EV, and the configuration (ie. Sedan, SUV or Pickup), has yet to be determined,” said Cpl. Ian Henderson, Richmond RCMP spokesperson. “So far the public reaction in Richmond has been mostly very positive,” added Henderson to Richmond News.
Aside from the Model Y being on loan from the West Shore RCMP in Langford, the latter also has Tesla’s first showroom and service center on Vancouver Island set to open soon.
