Canada Post Launches Carbon-Neutral Shipping for Domestic Ground Parcels

Canada Post has introduced carbon-neutral shipping for all domestic ground parcel services in a bid to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The initiative covers Domestic Regular Parcel, Expedited Parcel ground shipments, and Canada Post’s flat rate boxes.

For every tonne of greenhouse gas emissions generated by these domestic ground delivery services, Canada Post purchases accredited carbon offsets to neutralize the emissions. The corporation prioritizes Indigenous-owned or led, nature-based offset projects, such as the Great Bear Forest Carbon Project, which protects forests and conserves carbon stocks while creating jobs for First Nations communities.

There is no additional fee for carbon-neutral shipping, and using Canada Post’s “Find a rate” tool, customers can view the greenhouse gas emissions associated with their deliveries and select shipping options that align with their needs and preferences.

Canada Post’s commitments to achieving net-zero emissions include climate targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), electrification of its fleet of 14,000 vehicles by 2040, greening its real estate portfolio, purchasing renewable energy, and reducing emissions throughout its value chain.
