The price adjustment marks an 8% drop in the price of the base Model 3 RWD and a 7% discount on the Long Range trim’s previous sticker.
According to @FonsDK, the move may be intended to boost Model 3 sales in Denmark by better differentiating it from the Model Y, which is an all-electric crossover yet previously only cost about $2,000 more than the Model 3.
Tesla’s electric vehicles (EVs) account for 1% of all cars in Denmark, and even though the Model 3 and Model Y together make up 26% of the country’s all-electric car market, the former lags significantly behind in sales.
Where the Model Y was Denmark’s best-selling EV and second best-selling vehicle overall in January 2023, Tesla only sold eight Model 3 units in the country during the month. By bringing the Model 3’s price in Denmark more in line with its entry-level position on its roster, Tesla likely hopes to make the electric sedan more appealing to customers.
