The Italian company that builds Tesla’s huge “Giga Press” casting machines, IDRA, surpassed an important sales milestone for 2022, despite continued competition and challenges.

IDRA achieved a 40-percent increase in sales year over year in 2022, as detailed in a post on LinkedIn on Tuesday (via @Tslachan). The post also notes that IDRA surpassed 100 million euros ($108.58 million USD) in business in 2022.

As to how IDRA was able to make this milestone, the post notes its R&D measures, and its abilities to design, produce and deliver the technologically-advanced casting machines.

“As the new era of vehicle manufacturing progresses the challenges remain high,” IDRA General Manager Riccardo Ferrario said. “IDRA Group as an innovator must continue to strive for excellence in a difficult market and stay ahead of our competitors.”

The company also says in the post that IDRA hopes to strategically help push the die-casting industry forward into a new era, strengthening its own positions as the industry leader.

The news comes just a few weeks after IDRA sent one of its 9,000-ton Giga Press die-casting machines to Asia, though the customer on the project is still unknown.

The Travagliato, Italy company has also been sending IDRA Giga Press parts to Tesla’s Gigafactory Texas over the past few months, set to help the company build the upcoming Cybertruck.
