2023.2.0.5 Hands-On: Tesla Sentry Mode Pulsing Headlights, Auto Heated Steering Wheel and More [VIDEO]
Tesla’s first software update of the year, 2023.2.0.5, started rolling out earlier this week, along with 2023.2.
Two major features of this 2023.2.0.5 update include changes to Sentry Mode and the heated steering wheel.
Sentry Mode now slowly pulses when it detects an event, instead of flashing, which typically can catch people by surprise. The heated steering wheel now has two settings—low and high—along with an ‘auto’ mode like heated seats in Tesla vehicles.
Below is a hands-on with 2023.2.0.5, showing us a better look at how Sentry Mode changes look like. According to the video from CFairTech, the pulsating headlights for Sentry Mode come on slowly and gradually, taking about five seconds or so between the next pulse. It’s a softer warning to let people know your Tesla is recording actions around the car for security purposes.
The pulsing stops after 60 seconds or when the vehicle is unlocked, says Tesla.
We also see a better look at the heated steering wheel changes, with the icon now showing two settings and auto as well. A much-welcomed change for the heated steering wheel as it can get too hot at times.
This video below from Sonar Systems shows us a look at the undocumented feature of live camera preview for the cabin camera (go to the 3:30 mark):
