
Alongside launching a license plate frame that says “Powered by the Sun”, Tesla has also launched new Model 3 and Model Y license plate frames in satin black, joining chrome.
“Complete the look of your Model Y and protect your license plate from the elements. The Model Y License Plate Frame is constructed from stainless steel with a premium satin black or chrome finish and features a laser-etched “Model Y” wordmark,” explains Tesla. The Model 3 frame has the same description.

A satin black license plate frame matches newer Model 3 and Model Y cars that have chrome deleted trims. Original Model 3 vehicles had chrome trims.
Recently, Tesla stopped providing license plate frames for some newer Model 3 and Model Y deliveries, without explanation. It would make sense for newer cars with black trims to include a dark license plate frame. What’s next to go dark–existing chrome Tesla emblems?
