Tesla Owner Implants Car Key into His Hand

One Tesla owner has taken the chance of a lifetime to be able to literally unlock his car with his bare hands — thanks to a surgically implanted microchip key.

Tesla owner @BrandonDalaly had a key to his Tesla implanted into his hand, as seen in a video he shared on Twitter last week (via NY Post).

In a statement to Teslarati, Dalaly said, “Now I use that as my key when my Bluetooth key fails or I don’t have my key card.” Dalaly continued, “You just use your hand.”

The chip is made with NFC functionality by Vivokey Apex, the same company that makes Apple Pay on iPhones. Dalaly is a part of a beta group of around 100 users planning to test the chips before they become publicly available.

Dalaly said, “The company that put this together literally has its own app store where you can wirelessly install apps into your body with these chips.” Dalaly continued, “And one of the apps just happened to be a Tesla key card. So that was the first app I installed on it because I have a Tesla.”

Last year, a Reddit user shared how to create a Tesla key fob from the key card, which can then be used on a keychain rather than fitting into your wallet.
