Tesla Model Y Dominates EV Sales in Europe for June: Report

Registration data from Europe shows Tesla’s electric vehicles (EVs) at the front of the year’s EV sales, even as the overall auto market faces economic downturn.

The Tesla Model Y led auto registrations in Europe in June while the overall auto market was still down 17 percent year over year, according to Clean Technica.

Tesla’s compact crossover SUV had 16,758 registrations in June, pushing the model past the Fiat 500e to become the year’s most-registered vehicle.

The Fiat 500e had 7,322 deliveries across Germany, France, the UK and its home country of Italy.

Tesla’s flagship Model 3 sedan had 6,408 registrations in June to land in the third-place spot.

Battery-electric vehicles (BEVs), such as Tesla’s, saw a jump of 4 percent in registrations in June, down from the yearly average growth rate of 32 percent — but up from every other auto category.

In the larger European auto market, plugin hybrid vehicles took 8% share, with full BEVs taking 13% of this share, for 21% total of plugin electric vehicles.

A recent report shows that Tesla’s Model 3/Y exports to Europe are going to be massive in Q3, as the automaker continues to expand its Giga Berlin production lines this month.

Tesla also hit 800 Supercharger locations across Europe this month, spread across 30 different countries.
