Polestar 3 Electric SUV Unwrapped, Coming in October 2022

Swedish electric vehicle (EV) company Polestar has shared plans to debut its next vehicle, set to hit markets later this year.

Polestar will debut its first performance SUV, the Polestar 3, in October of 2022, according to a press release shared on Tuesday, showcasing the vehicle undisguised for the first time.

As detailed in the release, the Polestar 3 will eventually include autonomous highway piloting featuring Luminar LiDAR sensors and an Nvidia chip powering the EV’s computer.

Additionally, the Polestar 3 will be launched with a dual-motor configuration and a battery featuring a range target of over 600 km (373 miles).

It’s not yet clear how much the Polestar 3 will cost.

Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath said, “Polestar 3 is the SUV for the electric age. Our design identity evolves with this high-end large luxury EV, with a strong, individual brand character. With this car, we bring the ‘sport’ back to the SUV, staying true to our performance roots.” Ingenlath added, “This is a major milestone for our company, one that boosts our growth trajectory and takes us into our next phase.”

In March, Polestar also shared a concept for the O2 convertible electric roadster with an attached drone that flies out from the back.

Ingenlath has also said he expects Polestar EV sales to grow tenfold by 2025.

Last month, Polestar also launched a referral program offering rewards to drivers.
