Polestar Launches Referral Program With Rewards for Drivers
Swedish premium electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Polestar earlier this month announced its new referral program.
Through the Polestar referral program, drivers can earn rewards for person-to-person referrals. A Polestar owner can generate a personal referral code and share it with someone they know. If the other person joins the Polestar family by ordering a car from the EV maker using the referral code, both will be eligible for a reward.
Sharing the thrill of electric driving with others can be rewarding. Literally. With the new Polestar referral programme, drivers who get others on board can get an original Polestar design sketch in return (among other things). Rewards include a unique Polestar Power Houdi developed as a collaboration between the EV maker and sportswear brand Houdini, charging credits, or an original Polestar design sketch. What a referrer gets depends on the number of completed referrals.
“The digital referral codes are personal and unique for each referral,” Polestar explained. “The same link can’t be used twice. But as soon as the code has been shared with someone, a new code can be generated and shared with another.”
New members of the Polestar family can start generating codes to refer people and earn rewards right away. Anyone who purchases a pre-owned Polestar is not eligible to participate in the referral program, however.
“Spreading the word of electric driving might be one of the most powerful things when it comes to transitioning to a cleaner, more sustainable future,” Polestar said in its announcement.
Polestar started delivering the 2022 single-motor Polestar 2 in March. Soon after, Hertz announced plans to buy as many as 65,000 of the company’s EVs.
The referral program is available in the United States, United Kingdom, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and South Korea. Polestar — a subsidiary of veteran automaker Volvo, which is itself owned by China’s Geely — has a separate referral framework in China.
Late last year, the automaker teased the Polestar Precept, slated to make its debut as the Polestar 5 in 2024.
Company CEO Thomas Ingenlath said back in January that he expects sales to grow tenfold by 2025. To put that in perspective, Polestar delivered a total of 29,000 vehicles last year.
Tesla’s own referral program previously offered perks such as free Supercharging, but that has been shelved and currently only offers credits for Tesla Solar products.
