BC Hydro EV App Launches New Design for iOS and Android
BC Hydro, the crown corporation electric utility in B.C., Canada, recently launched a new overhauled design for its iOS and Android mobile apps.
New enhanced features include making it easier to add funds to your account, plan your route and also search for compatible chargers near your location. The BC Hydro EV app allows electric vehicle owners to charge on the BC Hydro, FLO and ChargePoint networks across North America.
The app lets you activate charging stations, order and manage your RFID cards to activate a station, add funds to your card, plus see your charging history. The app also supports Apple Pay for iPhone users to easily add funds to their account.
BC Hydro EV charging networks support both CCS and Chademo for DC fast charging. For Tesla owners, you’ll need a CCS or Chademo adapter to charge your vehicle. If you’re venturing to areas that lack Superchargers, you can try this trick to order a CCS adapter from South Korea, if your car supports it. Hopefully, Tesla will debut its CCS adapter in Canada and the U.S. soon.
In an email, BC Hydro said it recently added a new charging station in Fraser Lake, offering two pull-through chargers to accommodate larger vehicles and trailers, calling it “a first of its kind in our network.” Currently there are over 70 BC Hydro charging stations in the province.
B.C. currently offers up to $8,000 CAD in EV rebates, while also offering up to $350 CAD in rebates to install Level 2 charging stations at homes, and up to $5,000 CAD per station for businesses, condos and apartments.
“Our app is designed with EV drivers in mind. We’ve partnered with one of North America’s leading charging network providers, to deliver the best charging experience for our customers,” says B.C. Hydro.
