Elon Musk to Meet with EU Industry Chief at Giga Texas

Tesla CEO Elon Musk periodically meets with world leaders to discuss global issues, and next week he’ll sit down with a European official at the automaker’s Gigafactory in Texas.

Musk is set to meet with European Union Industry Head Thierry Breton in Texas on Monday, in order to talk about supply chain issues, according to Reuters.

During the meeting, they’ll also discuss new rules that mandate tech companies to better manage and police online content.

Breton spokesperson Terence Zakka said, “Tech and supply chains will be high on the agenda at Tesla with Elon Musk.” Zakka continued, “Free speech will also be on the menu between Thierry Breton and Elon Musk. So will EU regulation. Expect exchange on the Digital Services Act and how ‘new’ Twitter will play by European rules.”

The news comes just weeks after Musk bought Twitter for $44 billion at $54.20 per share.

On Saturday, Musk said he planned to quintuple Twitter’s revenue and reach a billion users by 2028.

Musk may become Twitter’s interim CEO, after raising another $7 billion in financing for the company.

Despite his ownership of the platform, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) established an oversight system of Musk’s Twitter following a 2018 tweet claiming he secured funding to take Tesla private.

Last month, a judge denied Musk’s bid to end that Twitter oversight, after the billionaire complained that the SEC was harassing him and questioning Twitter’s principles of free speech.
