Tesla Model Y units modded for off-road use have been seen a time or two before, but a new one built in China in recent months is taking the concept to the next level.
Chinese car show YiChe developed an off-road Tesla Model Y, which even features a roll cage, according to a video shared by BitAuto Garage last month (via Reddit).
The Model Y includes an orange paint job, along with custom tires and a roll cage that runs across the entire exterior of the vehicle’s body.

At first, the video takes the off-road Model Y to an area about 500 kilometers away from Beijing, before breaking a few parts, replacing them and heading out to the desert for the real thing.
The off-road Model Y can be seen in the video driving in the desert in China’s Xinjiang region, driving around varied terrains, most of which are rocky, sandy and hilly.
The crew also says they plan to take the off-road Model Y on a test in winter conditions for the channel.
