Elon Musk to Resign from the Board of Endeavor Group in June

Last April, it was announced SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk was set to join Endeavor Group’s board of directors.

The Endeavor Group is a holding company formed when William Morris Agency and Endeavor Talent Agency merged in 2009. It owns the Miss Universe pageant and sports organizations such as the UFC. After its IPO kicked off last year, Musk joined the Endeavor board at the same time.

Now, it appears Musk’s tenure with the Endeavor board has been short-lived, as according to The Hollywood Reporter, the Tesla CEO will be resigning on June 30, 2022. Endeavor disclosed Musk’s departure in its annual filing with the SEC, and its board members will reduce to seven after Musk leaves.

“We thank Elon Musk for his commitment to Endeavor through our first year as a public company, in which he contributed meaningfully to our long-term strategy and vision for the future of sports and entertainment,” said an Endeavor spokesperson in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “We know he has a lot of demands and little time, and we appreciate the support he provided us.”

Musk informed Endeavor of his decision to leave on March 12, with his resignation “not the result of any disagreement with the Company on any matter relating to its operations, policies or practices.”

The Hollywood Reporter says it was not unexpected for Musk to have a short tenure with the Endeavor board, considering the numerous companies he runs, says a source.
