2023 Cadillac Lyriq EV Pre-Orders Launching May 19 in U.S.
Cadillac, the luxury brand of General Motors, announced on Tuesday pre-orders of its upcoming 2023 Cadillac Lyriq electric vehicle will launch on May 19, 2022.
Orders for the 2023 Lyriq and the 2023 Lyriq performance all-wheel drive will be available through a dealership’s website or Cadillac.com, according to Rory Harvey, vice president of global Cadillac, speaking to reporters today (via Automotive News).
The rear-wheel drive Lyriq will start limited production next week in Spring Hill, Tennessee, with shipments expected to hit dealers in May. The performance all-wheel drive Lyriq will start production “late this year”, said Harvey.
So far, Cadillac has received interest from 233,000 customers, or “handraisers”, defined as those showing interest in the mid-size crossover, ahead of its initial target of 200,000. No actual reservation numbers were shared by Cadillac.
“We have yet to tell how many of those handraisers will translate into customer orders, but the amount of demand at the moment is absolutely huge,” said Harvey.
Cadillac’s Spring Hill plant is slated to produce 25,000 Lyriq crossovers in 2022, far beyond the initial reports of 3,200 previously stated by a report in February. The factory is also slated to build five other Cadillac EVs by 2025.

Back in November of last year, GM said the Cadillac Lyriq launch was “ahead of schedule”, and was testing down in New Zealand. The vehicle is based on GM’s Ultium platform.
