Tesla’s Giga Texas Factory Has 227 Model Y Cars Parked Outside [VIDEO]
Tesla’s Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, is looking busier than ever, according to the latest aerial drone footage recorded on Sunday, February 27, by Jeff Roberts.
One of the biggest changes at the site is the growing number of Model Y compact crossover SUVs parked outside Giga Texas. We’ve seen them before coming and going, but this time Roberts says there are 227 in the newly paved lot at the same time, the most ever at the factory.
We see a combination of black and blue Model Y vehicles, some with car covers and some without, covered in dust from construction at the site. Based on the Gemini Wheels and covers, these look like Long Range versions of the Model Y.
The first Model Y vehicles from Giga Texas will use Tesla’s newest 4680 structural battery packs. It’s unclear if these are test vehicles or cars made for upcoming deliveries for customers. I’d hate to have my Model Y paint get covered in dust and elements from construction.
“An unusually busy Sunday at Giga Texas today, as excavation continues in the East and Cathode areas and more concrete work on the South end. It was nice to see the sun again and I won’t miss the wind whenever it decides to leave town!”, said Roberts.
We also see solar panels on the roof continue to get worked on, as they will eventually outline the word “TESLA”.
You can check out the latest flyover of Giga Texas in the video above—the Model Y cars can be seen at about the 9-minute mark.
