While we’ve heard many issues with Tesla’s heat pump in cold weather, the issues aren’t affecting everyone, as detailed by one Tesla Model Y owner in Canada.

According to Haseeb T., he drove through an ice storm in his 2022 Model Y Long Range (7-seater) and everything worked perfectly, even when his compact crossover SUV was caked in ice.

“Made it through the ice storm today,” said Haseeb on Wednesday, noting he travelled from Ottawa to Toronto in Ontario. “Yes, that is a solid layer of ice coating the entire front of the car. Everything worked perfectly: heating, defrost, wipers,” added Haseeb.

Looking at the images shared by Haseeb, the Model Y looks to be covered in at least a half inch of solid ice, which looks really gnarly. It’s good to know that his climate control still functioned as normal during his trip on the highway and especially through an ice storm.

Others chimed in on Facebook they also did a similar trip like Haseeb in -20C (-4F) weather and their Tesla vehicles performed without issues in extreme weather.

Tesla recently explained the heat pump issue as part of an NHTSA safety recall, which also has since expanded to Model 3 and Model Y cars in China.
