Tesla Model 3 and Model Y Rank as Top Considered Luxury Cars in Q4
Kelley Blue Book’s Brand Watch Luxury Report ranks the most considered vehicles by consumers every quarter, and recent results from the quarterly report show Tesla as a top contender, while the latter’s Model 3 and Model Y took top spots.
Tesla was ranked the third most-considered luxury vehicle in Kelley Blue Book’s Q4 2021 Luxury Report (via InsideEVs).
In the rankings, Lexus and BMW tied for first place with a 20% brand consideration in Q4, while Tesla was close behind at 18%.
In the report, Kelley Blue Book writes, “Tesla had the biggest increase in shopping consideration of any luxury brand in the fourth quarter, up three percentage points to 18 percent of all luxury shoppers looking at a Tesla.”
Notable models from Tesla included the Model 3 with 53 percent consideration among potential Tesla consumers and the Model Y with 43 percent consideration. It was the first time for the Model Y taking the number 1 spot for luxury SUVs, dethroning the Lexus RX and its two-year run.
The Tesla Model Y was the best-selling electric vehicle (EV) in the U.S. in 2021, with the Model 3 ranking second.
The Model Y was also the second best-selling vehicle overall in California, with the Model 3 ranking fifth-most sold vehicle in the state.
