President Biden Mentions Tesla for the First Time: Nation’s Largest EV Maker [VIDEO]

President Joe Biden has finally acknowledged Elon Musk’s Tesla for the first time.

In a speech on Tuesday about rebuilding manufacturing and creating jobs in the United States, the President mentions Tesla and its achievements in the electric vehicle space.

Biden was touting the $200 billion in domestic manufacturing investments in the United States. Here’s when he mentioned Tesla and recognized the company as America’s “largest EV manufacturer”.

“From iconic companies like GM and Ford building out new electric vehicle production, to Tesla—our nation’s largest electric vehicle manufacturer—to younger innovative companies like Rivian, building electric trucks, or Proterra, building electric buses.”

Recently, a Change.org petition asked for Biden to recognize Tesla’s EV leadership, currently reaching over 58,000 signatures. 

The White House recognized Tesla recently for the “extraordinary things” it has done for EVs, while also noting it would be willing to work with Elon Musk and company to deal with the nation’s chip shortages.

Biden today also announced Australia’s Tritium would be building an EV factory in Tennessee.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk reacted to Biden’s announcement by sharing a smiling emoji with sunglasses.
