
Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed on the company’s Q4 2021 earnings call its upcoming Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, will begin production with the company’s latest 4680 structural battery packs.
The automaker confirmed it is already installing 4680 structural packs at Giga Texas. Tesla shared a picture of seats being attached to its new structural pack. Tesla believes the first Model Y vehicles with 4680 structural battery packs will be delivered this quarter.
Tesla’s Giga Berlin-Brandenburg, however, will start with 2170 battery cells for new Model Y vehicles.
